Old Person of Cadiz by Edward Lear

There was an Old Person of Cadiz,
Who was always polite to all ladies;
But in handing his daughter,
He fell into the water,
Which drowned that Old Person of Cadiz.

Playhouse in My Backyard by Mahfooz Ali

Poetry inspired me early on.
A quirky only child,
I spent a fair amount of time reading alone
in my pale blue bedroom
or in a wooden playhouse in my backyard.
I wasn’t entirely antisocial,
but found many of my best friends
in a parallel universe of words
occupying a small bookshelf in my closet.
And while I never considered myself a poet,
I composed silly limericks
while the neighbourhood kids played dodge ball.

Washington D.C. by Gary R. Lundquist

Then we send them by planes to DC.
Where They're met by big money,
Handshakes and smiles sunny.
No more will there voting be free.

Love: A Limerick by Jim Milks

His love was misplaced
For she was rather chaste
Now he spends his time with Suzanne
